There are many plants with medicinal properties and most plant pages have a description of their medicinal uses.

There is a cultivar of Neoregelia marmorata with the common name Julian Nally.
If the plant you are referring to is a tree it is likely Cercidiphyllum japonicum or Katsura Tree. 
Arctic rhododendron has waxy leaves that prevent water loss. The dark cup-shaped flower directs sunlight toward the flower’s center, where its seeds grow.
If there are also flowers on the plant you’re thinking of I think it might be Sea Holly
Your mandevilla plant should be brought in doors for the winter and placed near a window. You can prune it to bring it in and it will perk back up once outside again in the summer.
It is possible your trees are diseased. Orange trees are susceptible to diseases such as citrus canker, sooty mold, greasy spots and root rot.
Treatment for this is fungicide spray and removal of the infected limbs.

Yellow leaves indicate the Peace Lily is getting too much light. Brown spot and streaks indicate direct sun rays have reached the plant and scorched it. If this is the case move your plant further from the window to protect it form too much sunlight.
If you find your plant completely depleted with fronds flat over pot edge because you forgot to water for a while, you can revive it by watering and spritzing it right away.
If your municipal water system is heavily chlorinated, fill a container with water and then allow it to stand overnight so the chlorine can percolate out before pouring into the Peace Lily. Peace lilies can be sensitive to chlorine.
